Conservation Futures 2010

I am on the Conservation Futures Advisory Committee as well as serving on the Spokane County Park Advisory Committee. The Conservation Futures Advisory Committee is so exclusive that even I am not sure who serves on this committee. I believe five serve from the Spokane County PAC, three from the City of Spokane, and one from the City of Spokane Valley. When I find out all of the people who serve on the CF Advisory Committee, I will publish their names right here.

The CF Advisory Committee met last week to start the process of reviewing nominations for the Conservation Futures funding. The nominations had about $40,000,000 in properties nominated. I will publish the entire list when I get the final list. We are waiting to see if other nominations are coming in from the City of Spokane Valley.

The reason I am doing this blog is because transparency in the process will serve the public well. I am not afraid of having my considerably large opinion made public. This blog will help publicize the program and the process. I am certain that the public will have more confidence in the results of the CF selection process if we communicate what we are doing and the reasons for the decisions.

My opinions on what is important has to be balanced with other views. So I am hoping that this blog has other voices contributing.
